Send careersTeamwork, steady hands and clear communication keep our bench moving. On the floor you’ll find a mix of experience from Germiston, Gqeberha, Durban and more, all working together. Each order brings its own drawings, priorities and a bit of grit, whether we’re cutting aluminium mounts or building a custom set for a Cape Town workshop. We set up jobs to cut down on rework and waste, planning ahead so machining and assembly go smoothly for our customers. With occasional power cuts or outages, we rely on good preparation and solid habits, not endless retries. Most of our work goes to manufacturers, joiners, fitters and shopfitters across South Africa who want their parts production-ready, straight off the pallet.
Most weeks, we look for people with a knack for production, machinery or planning. Popular roles include CNC operator, layout and nesting assistant, and workshop all-rounder. If you have experience with profiles, plywoods, plastics, or metals, we’re keen to hear from you. People who’ve worked in Gauteng industrial parks and know their way around Highveld dust or coastal humidity will find familiar territory here. Sometimes we have spots open in our quoting, order handling or programming team. Those roles ask for careful attention to drawings, nesting software and part specs.
We value people who work safely, can read a tape or a drawing down to the last millimetre, and who take pride in clean parts. Being straightforward with the team and asking questions when specs aren’t clear saves time for everyone. The best operators can spot an off-spec sheet before the spindle touches it. Fitters who have worked in both big and small workshop environments often do well here. We learn from each other every shift, so there’s always a way to pick up new tricks or help someone else with a tricky nest.
To apply, write a note through our contact form with the subject line Careers. Tell us what sort of work you’ve done around sheet goods, machines or production. If you have experience with our machines, finishes or materials, mention it. Add a line or two about the kinds of projects or roles that interest you. No need for fancy formatting or long CVs. We reply by email if we’d like to talk further or see you in the workshop. Interviews often include a quick hands-on session or a walk through the bay so you can see how we run.
Most of our team are here for the blend of hands-on work and real results. We run most shifts from our Germiston base, near 2 Makro Place. The workshop is kitted with CNC routers, extraction gear and the usual safety kit. Machines run off 230 V and three-phase, so we keep things neat and tidy to avoid unwanted downtime. You’ll see everything from custom joinery parts to batches for furniture, signage or marine panels. We send parts out across Gauteng, Durban, Cape Town and up to Polokwane. There’s always a mix of quick runs and bigger production batches, so no two weeks look quite the same. Team members talk directly with the foreman, planners and the next shift, so everyone knows what’s on the move.
We bring new joiners up to speed by matching them with experienced operators or planners. Many of the systems and tricks are unique to how we do things at Cut2Shape, so you’ll learn by doing and asking questions when something’s unclear. We encourage finding better ways to organise jobs, label parts or speed up a tricky nest. Some team members get involved in sample parts or showroom prep to see more of the process. If you like a practical role and being around people who value clear results, you’ll fit right in.
